Zhang Jianmin was born in Qinghai Province. He is one of China's industrial design pioneers. After his 24-year design service career, he founded CIGA Design, China's first designer watch brand, in 2016. In 2021, CIGA Design's Blue Planet watch won the GPHG Challenge Prize, being the first watch from China to win the ‘Watch Oscar’. Also in 2021, CIGA Design was awarded ‘TOP 3 of World Watches and Jewellery labels 2017-2021’ by iF Design Award. On 29 June, 2022, The Blue Planet became the first watch collected by the Museum of Art and History Geneva.
